This issue just makes me go . . . swish. Maybe because the cover photo is totally BOMB (done by the ever-amazing @deer.leah), but I’m super excited about this latest addition to our magazine family. And, as I saved this issue, I finalized OBO 2019. I’m super excited to move onto 2020, but I will be spending a lot of November reflecting on how far we’ve come.
a quick, sentimental rundown of OBO 2019
We took a look at our purpose. We defined what true victory is in God’s eyes (it often looks different from what we thought). We discovered our identity as children of God, image bearers. We learned that it’s okay to need people, but we still have to take responsibility for our lives and be capable. We explained what kindness is (because usually it’s too general). And, finally, we ended the year with intention: why we do what we do.
we’re closing out with intention
how to write a mission statement
There’s a very popular trend running through Christian circles, and this is one trend I don’t mind bandwagoning on. It happens to be the practice of writing a life statement, a mission statement if you will. “On a Mission” by Mary Grace Meyers gives you encouragement and practical tips on writing your own statement (plus, if you buy Intention in print, you get journaling space to write it out and commit to it).
meet Christian artist and hand letterer Lauren Ibach
We interviewed Lauren Ibach for the latest issue of OBO because she’s cool and she makes cool stuff. I personally loved her tips on living with intentionality. It’s a must-read!
make it happen
My first skill on my resumé is “procrastinating.” Pathetic, but honest. Sarah Cnossen gives us three tips on DOING STUFF . . . plus there’s journaling space!!!! You know me, I do love the journaling space.
Here’s a peep at that journaling space for your anti-procrastinating brainstorming time . . .
the do list
Every year we start bucket lists . . . well, we don’t believe in bucket lists. We believe in do lists. Emily Seaver gives us a fab pep talk for the New Year (you’re gonna need your Big Girl Pants for this one).
Psst . . . this is just a peek at all the wonderful goodies in the magazine. You can read it for free, as always, or support our mission by grabbing a copy for $15 (it’s automatic FREE SHIPPING, beloved!!).
but wait, there’s more!!
We’ll be giving you details on OBO 2020 soon (including our theme and subscription information) but for now I’m very excited to let you know we’re going to be cutting prices next year. The whole process of getting OBO into print has been quite an adventure, but I finally found a printer in town that can do it for way cheaper (this past year we’ve been selling magazines at $11 plus $6 shipping).
Next year, issues will be a simple $9, free shipping. So, basically half the cost. Yayyyy!! So, spread the news; write it on the dusty back windshields of peoples’ cars; write it on your forehead.
